Rind, D., 1984: Global climate in the 21st century. Ambio, 13, no. 3, 148-151.

There is little doubt that the increase in CO2 will warm the planet — the question is, by how much? The CO2-induced warming is not the entire story; a warmer planet will likely evaporate more moisture from the oceans, and the increased water vapor will also act as greenhouse material. In addition, cloud cover might change, as well as sea ice and snow cover, all producing either an amplification or a reduction of the original effects (and thus positive or negative "feedbacks"). To estimate what the total response of the system will be, climate scientists use a variety of mathematical models, the most sophisticated of which attempt to simulate the atmosphere-ocean-land climate system.
