To model the climate over the past 2000 years will require an accurate specification of the climate forcing changes, and accurate models for the response. Most of the potential forcings have uncertainties on the order of 0.5-1 W/m2. Models appear capable of some accuracy in regional responses to specific forcings, but a factor of three uncertainty in total cliamte sensitivity exists. Given the expected small magnitude of the potential forcings, and the modeling and forcing uncertainties, simulating the climate over this time period is likely to be a significant challenge.
