Increased global warming can lead to greater evaporation of water into the atmosphere, and water vapor is itself an excellent greenhouse gas. For this reason, a proper understanding of the behavior of water vapor in the atmosphere is crucial to formulating accurate global climate models. In his Perspective, Rind discusses recent efforts to unravel this very important and complex feedback mechanism.
