ABSTRACT

Reeves 1963

Reeves, H., 1963: The influence of neutrino processes on late stages of stellar evolution. Astrophys. J., 138, 79-89.

In this work we assume that neutrino processes from a direct coupling between electrons and neutrinos do occur in reality. Using a crude model, we show that these processes will have a marked effect on the characteristics of the late stages of stellar evolution. These stages will occur at higher temperatures, will pour out more power, and will last shorter periods than would be the case if these processes were absent. Estimates are given. This analysis, together with more accurate calculations, could eventually be used to prove or disprove the existence of such neutrino processes.
